Kickstarter & Game Trailer!

Posted by Alonso Martin

Heart Forth, Alicia – Kickstarter Trailer

Click to go to the Kickstarter page!

I’m so excited to let you guys know that a Kickstarter campaign is up and running! We have been working very hard for the last few months getting everything ready for the launch. There’ll also be a new game trailer coming with it! After years of work, I can’t wait to know what you’ll think of it! I haven’t been as excited about the game in such a long time, to tell you the truth, and it makes me both excited and nervous!

So why a Kickstarter?
You might be wondering why I decided to take the game to Kickstarter. The reason is very simple: developing this game on my own is incredibly slow. I started this game 7 years ago, and though I’ve cumulatively worked on it for more than four (the last two, full-time), I simply don’t see myself finishing this game in a reasonable amount of time without bringing other people into the project.

Fortunately, I’ve been lucky enough to get a bunch of talented people interested in the game and ready to jump in. However, professionals like them will hardly want to jump into the boat with you if you don’t have funds to pay them with.

Kickstarter has been a great resource for indies who are in similar situations, and who want to be able to carry out long-term projects like this one. I can honestly say there’s a much better chance for the game to be finished if we go down this road than if I keep on working on my own.

I will also be working with the guys from Chucklefish Games, and even though they will not provide us with funding at any point, they’ll work with us on pushing the game to consoles and other platforms once it’s finished. They’ll also help out with marketing and PR during the campaign and during the course of development. They are, by the way, really nice and talented developers themselves who completely understand the development process, so our interaction has been very enjoyable and friendly.

I obviously will never give the game up if things don’t work out as planned, but I’ll have to get a part-time job to cover my living costs, and I’m not sure of how that would impact how many months or years it’d take for me to finish this game.

So this is basically the only viable option, and it’s a really good one if it works out! Aside from the costs of physical rewards, almost all of the money raised in the campaign will exclusively be used to hire the people to help with game development (namely graphics, music and code), aside from getting a small fraction for my own living expenses, and another one for taxes and fees.

I’ll be incredibly thankful if you will help us spread the news about the campaign, and even more so if you decide to back the game. We’re all crossing our fingers so that this works out!

If you’ve read this far, thank you <3. I've been working for years on this game for it to be a very special experience for you, and being able to hire this team will only make that goal much more achievable.

@Ian We’re launching a Greenlight page with the campaign, hopefully the game will get greenlit at some point afterwards!

@prince1 It’s still a little early to know, but I think a WiiU port could happen. We’ll have to see :)

Just watched the trailer. It’s mind boggling and amazing to think one individual created this. I just donated. Best of luck.

I have backed another KS game much to the love of many others as well but he also had a love of a game and it got far too big for him to handle. I want to see a well run KS if your going to do this and then as you said use the money only for use to higher these other people and i think you would need to add that and put that down in plane text for everyone to read.

How do we keep track of all of this i suppose mailing list.

Oops, left msg on last blog post. Great to see you got the funding, and so fast! Hoping the kickstarter keeps going well, but that the huge amount of funding you’re going to get doesn’t see the project drag out. Can’t wait to play the final result :)

Thanks for all the amazing comments and support, guys! I haven’t even been able to update this page because of the speed of things, but I will get to it soon.

To those concerned about stretch goals, I completely understand what you mean when you say projects get too big. I’m consciously only considering stretch goals that won’t impact the development of the game itself on my end, which is basically bringing more people into the project to add extra content or develop ports. This shouldn’t slow me down very much, so that’s good.

I can not really express the magnitude in mere words on a screen to you Alonso of what your vision here has awoken from deep within me…
It feels like I have been waiting for a “Lifetime” for a game that would once again rise & blossom from long dead roots of old. I have the need to tell you from what I can only see and hear from this Beautiful.. Hypnotizing to my eyes! & Warm Magical Melodies which leaves a Magnificent Valor sense of taste in my ears.. Heart Forth Alicia has me very, Very excited and giddy with Happiness to high dive into and begin Adventuring through your Wonderful work of art that is this game.

You already have my respect and gained my serious attention and I will be Donating for the physical copy level for this project.

Thank You for all the hard work & time you have put into (HFA) I am stoked!

Maybe… sigh.. maybe there will be the first Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Killer?! Or at least something that has same deep secrets, gameplay, coz most games nowadays look complex, promising, but under the surface it is all copy & paste.

UnEpic was such sweet candy after decades of waiting. This one here seem worth to fund, but im from germany and kickstarter doesnt fit good with my paymethods. I hope you will after kickstarter, launch it like chucklefish did, a continued backer shop, for the one who can’t pledge at kickstarter.

And i would find it silly, if you make much money with the kickstarter to use it only for this project, if there are enough money left, you should build a base for the next game too, also vacation for you could be give back then in a relaxed mind to be better for coding etc… :OP

An info about the Backer Shop i would appreciate, coz i would like to support you, Mr.

Auf Wiedersehen,

Joey :O) *wink*

Hey, just a quick question, when the game is out will it be open enough to mod it at all? I mean I’m sure the game will be amasing it’s just I would like a couple custom items in the game to personalise it more for me, it’s just I don’t have enough money to back it enough to get a custom item put in for me.

Thanks. x
